My mom got her period when she was 12. And I still havent got it yet. Also I heard now kids are getting it about a year before their parents did and thats already passed. I havent even got discharge or any signs.

Answer:just because your mom got it at 12 does mean u will. it comes when mother nature intends it to. my mom got her in the 6th grade and i got mine at the end of 8 th grade so it will come just be lucky you don't have to go threw all that trouble yet. trust me i was the only girl in my class who didn't have it and i wanted it so bad but know i wish it can just go away. but im good cuz i only get mine every 2 months instead of once a month like every body else!

Answer:Sorry to let you know, but if you havent gotten your period yet, it's likely that your child will be born with birth defects or devolop cancer later in life.

Answer:Well I didn't get mine earlier than my mum. I got mine at 14 :/ you have to be like over 45kgs to get it.

Answer:Dont know how old you are but don't stress it. You will get it when it is time. I don't believe that kids get it a year before their parents.

Answer:If you don't get your period before you turn 16 then you could have a medical condition. It doesn't sound like that's any time close for you. Don't worry. I got my period when I was almost 15 and my mom had hers when she was like 13. Genetics does play a role but that doesn't completely determine at what age you will get you're period. Don't worry about it, when you do get you're period, you'll wish you didn't have it. lol

Answer:Most girls begin menstruating between the ages of 9 and 16. Each female will start when her body is ready and only then. This may or may not be at the age your mom started.

Maturation is genetically determined, although your environment plays a role. Even though the average age of menstruation is 12 some girls do not mature until they are 15 or 16…And this is NORMAL.

You are definitely going through puberty, but when your period will arrive is still a guess. You are definitely headed in the right direction…just hang in there. Read the information in

for details on puberty and first menstruation.

The actual flow of your period doesn't feel like much – you usually can't feel it coming out. When you actually get a period, you may feel some dampness in the crotch area – this is probably a small amount of blood on your underwear.

Having a dark brown menstrual discharge is not unusual. Menstrual blood may be red, pink or brown. Often girls aren't aware of this when they first start and don't even know they are menstruating when in fact they are.

Good luck, Your BEINGgirl Experts

Answer:My mom was 10 when she got her period, I was 15. Don't worry- it'll come eventually, and when it does, you'll wish that you didn't worry about it so much, because you'll just want it to go away. :)
